Program Overview

Taking Care of Our Fuzzy Friends as a Veterinary Assistant!

Tens of millions of U.S. households own a pet, according to a 2025 report by the American Pet Products Association, and they aren’t just accessories—they’re family. As pet ownership continues to increase, this also means that the demand for veterinary services is going to grow. In fact, California is projected to see veterinary assistant employment grow by 24%, much faster than average, through 2032.*

The Veterinary Assistant program at Summit College equips students with a broad understanding of animal healthcare, medical terminology, record keeping, animal handling, and client communication. This prepares graduates to support veterinary teams in both clinical and administrative settings.
